Code of Ethics

All registered professionals are required to uphold the highest ethical standards to ensure the delivery of quality services that maintain the trust of clients and the broader community. These standards include:

  • Contracts and Agreements: Professional relationships must be based on clear, documented, and transparent agreements that define the rights and responsibilities of both parties. These contracts serve to protect both the client and the professional in the event of a dispute.
  • Acknowledgement of Professional Limits: Professionals must recognize the boundaries of their expertise and refer clients to other qualified specialists when appropriate.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Professionals are expected to regularly update their knowledge and skills in line with industry developments and requirements.
  • Accountability: Professionals must accept full responsibility for their decisions and actions in their professional practice.
  • Transparency in Information: Professionals must provide accurate and clear information regarding their qualifications, experience, and registration status upon request.
  • Professionalism: Professionals are expected to maintain a respectful and professional demeanor that reflects positively on their field and community.
  • Confidentiality: Client information must be kept strictly confidential and shared only when necessary—with the client’s consent—and in compliance with relevant laws.
  • Financial Transparency: Clients must be informed in advance of any fees or costs associated with the services provided.

Professional Relationships

  • Avoid inappropriate behavior in all interactions with clients or participants.
  • Ensure that any physical contact is appropriate, necessary, and made with the full consent of the client or participant.
  • Conduct all professional dealings with honesty and integrity.
  • Act in the best interest of clients or participants, prioritizing their wellbeing.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and respectful communication to prevent misunderstandings and conflicts.

Respect and Transparency

  • Protect the confidentiality of all personal, social, health-related, and sensitive client information.
  • Respect individual differences, including but not limited to ethnicity, culture, language, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, political beliefs, and social background.
  • Oppose and reject all forms of discrimination and harassment.
  • Keep accurate, complete, and organized records of all professional interactions.

Safety

  • Ensure clients or participants are adequately prepared before initiating any activity or service.
  • Respond appropriately to accidents and emergencies.
  • Prioritize and safeguard the health and safety of all clients or participants.
  • Never encourage or condone the use of performance-enhancing or prohibited substances.
  • Respect clients’ physical boundaries and individual capabilities.

General Provisions

  • Avoid any conduct that could harm the reputation of the professional, their organization, or the profession.
  • Ensure that all advertising and public communication is truthful, responsible, and free from misleading claims.
  • Individuals who believe that a registered professional has violated this Code may submit a formal complaint to the appropriate authority for investigation. Disciplinary actions may include suspension, termination of membership, or an official reprimand.
  • The overarching aim of this Code of Ethics is to foster ethical, sustainable professional practices that serve the interests of all stakeholders.
